Speaker Preparation/Onboarding

A. We see our speakers as valued team members in delivering a “Level 10” experience to all attendees. We’ll ensure you’re well-informed, prepared, and equipped to perform at your very best.

On stage, you represent the EOS Worldwide Community. You are an integral part of everyone’s collective goal of an attendee satisfaction rating of 8.75 or higher. Attention to detail in every aspect of your presentation is crucial for our shared success.

Many speakers share that the experience of preparing for and speaking at this event elevated their speaking abilities to the next level and led to many further opportunities. We want to help you achieve that!

A. We want your participation in the EOS Conference to be a phenomenal success for you and the audience. To achieve that aim, the following is required to be a speaker at the EOS Conference:

  1. Sign your contract and send in all required documents and deliverables (title, description, PPT, handout, headshot, bio, and payment information) on time. (coming soon)
  2. Read our Speaker Training e-book (coming soon).
  3. Watch our speaker training videos (coming soon).
  4. Attend a Speaker Value call (coming soon).
  5. Rehearse your presentation in advance, preferably in front of a similar audience or a peer group you trust.
  6. Attend your scheduled onsite AV check and run through.

Regardless of your degree of speaking experience, we appreciate all speakers fully participating in these steps, to ensure the highest quality experience for all attendees.

A. A Speaker Value Call is a discussion about your presentation with our Programming Manager. In this call, someone from our team will help you highlight key points for attendees and ensure a diversity of content across all sessions. Even if you frequently present or speak, this call is intended to support your success.

A. Attendees view content presented at the conference as “the standard” of EOS: the model, process, and the correct identification of IP. You are asked to share your materials with our team in advance of your speech to guarantee these standards. Find our trademark and IP guidelines here.

Do not use, combine, blend or alter any of the EOS names, drawings, models, logos, illustrations, proven processes. For example, don’t title a talk or slide “The Six Key Components of Profit.” Make sure there is clear delineation and accurate citation of any EOS content you happen to reference.

A.When using your own model, give attribution in the slide. When using illustrations, drawing, models, photos from third parties, also please make a citation on the slide. Please do not present any materials, photos, or images you do not have permission to share.

A. This conference has an impressive return rate of 80%, year over year, because of the exceptional content our speakers provide. (Thank you, in advance!)

  •     Bring your “A-Game.” Prepare well and practice your content. If you are using any engagement tools like polls or videos, you must be well-rehearsed in their use. If you have concerns or need to talk through your presentation, our team can help.
  •     Selling your services in your session or soliciting attendees is not permitted on-premise or in the app. It’s also extremely ineffective and generates ill-will with your audience.
  •     Do follow up directly with individuals who ask to be contacted.
  •     To hold the value of the conference, we do not provide attendee lists to any vendor, sponsor, speaker, or attendee.
  •     We come from a mindset of abundance. When you deliver your content in that spirit, attendees will seek you out as a trusted resource.

Your On-Site Experience

A. Absolutely! Part of your compensation is a complimentary registration for the entire conference, which allows you full access to both days. We hope you will take full advantage of this learning opportunity.

A. Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi and log-in information will be provided on-site in all meeting spaces. However, we ask that your presentation be capable of delivery without Wi-Fi, just to be safe.

A. Please dress “business professional” unless your presentation format is enhanced by wearing a uniform or other professional gear.

A. Yes. We will use an app at the event. You may submit additional materials to be loaded into the app. Please do so to Julie Sedick by February 3, 2025. The app is a great way to connect with attendees in advance of your session!

A. We “sell out” at 3000 attendees. The maximum we will accommodate, including staff, speakers, and sponsors, is 3500. It’s a wonderful group!

Entrepreneurs, business owners and leadership team members of companies running on EOS. In past years, attendee roles broke down as: 30% Visionary, 30% Integrator and 30% Other Leadership Team members or staff. Many have come back year after year. While attendees are at all stages in their knowledge and experience, we have observed that more than half have a strong working knowledge of EOS.

A. The Session Tracks are defined below. Tracks guide attendees to sessions suited to their stage in the EOS Journey. Below, you’ll find the tracks and learner levels. You’ll be informed of your track—please tailor your content to match the learner level.

TRACK

ATTENDEE PROFILE: WHERE they are on their EOS Journey

Growing (EOS)

  • Relatively new to EOS and have been using it for less than a year.
  • May not have experienced all of the session types yet.
  • May not understand all the terms and abbreviations.
  • May have been running on EOS for awhile, but not achieving the desired score in a specific one of the Six Key Components.

Mastering (EOS)

  • Running on EOS for a full year or longer.
  • Experienced with every session, but maybe only a one day annual.
  • Understand the language and lingo. Say things like, “Let’s IDS that!”
  • Achieving at or above the desired score in Organizational Checkup.
  • Want a deep dive, new insight, nugget or tool to amplify mastery?

Mastering (Complementary)

  • Have a working knowledge of Running on EOS
  • Sufficient ability to “operationalize” the new tool, idea, concept, software or service because they have the fundamentals of the Six Key Components in place (Vision, People, Data, Issues, Process, Traction).
  • Seeking outside knowledge, tools and information that aids, assists and supports their business process.

Presentation Deck & Handouts

A. Yes, a PPT template will be provided. If your presentation is specifically branded and formatted to support your presentation, you may use your branded deck upon review and approval by the programming team. We require you to use PPT only and not a different program such as Prezi, Google slides, or Canva, to ensure clean formatting and delivery. If you are building your own slides, be sure to use the “Widescreen 16:9” slide size.

A. Yes. EVERY presentation will have an opening title slide and a closing survey slide. These slides include our introduction EOS conference branded slides and a QR code to access a feedback survey. These slides are added to the final presentation you submit, and a final copy will also be sent to you.

A. Yes. There are two times that you submit your presentation. First, in draft for an EOS Purity check, and then a final submission. After the final submission, NO further edits will be permitted. The presentation we have in February is the presentation attendees will see in April.

December 1: EOS Purity Check, please send your presentation to Julie Sedick. This does not have to be your final presentation; a working draft is ok.

February 3: Final, corrected presentation due to Julie Sedick.

These early deadlines are crucial due to the event’s production complexity. To ensure a top-notch experience for attendees, we need everyone’s slides in advance. We appreciate your help and partnership in making this happen—thank you!

A. Each room will have its own computer and projector. The presentation you provide in advance will be pre-loaded on the computer. All content is deleted from the computer after the conference, for IP protection. A clicker will be provided. You may not use your own computer to share your presentation.

Please note that making last-minute changes to your presentation is not possible. The presentation you share with us in February is what will be shown to the room so please do your creative work well in advance!

A. Yes, but please embed the video file into your presentation whenever possible. There is Wi-Fi; it is not as reliable when 3,000+ people are using it. When you arrive for your A/V check, inform your production tech that you are using a video and test it fully.

A. Handouts are optional and not a requirement for speaking. Sharing a copy of your presentation deck is discouraged; it’s not helpful for attendees. DO format your handout with key models, exercises, key takeaways, and action items. A template is available here.

A. All handouts will be loaded into the app and distributed in  your room. EOS will print up to 2 pages, double sided, black and white. If your presentation calls for a different format, please plan to bring your own copies. Julie Sedick can discuss with you the quantities needed for your room size.

Your Session: Room, Duration, Recording, Evaluation

A. All rooms are equipped with a projector, confidence monitor, lavalier mic, clicker to advance your slides, and computer. A production person, room host, and EOS staff member will be present during every session to assist with setup and address any needs during the presentation.

A. Absolutely! It is required that you run through all your slides during the rehearsal to ensure they are transferred correctly during the upload process. You don’t want any surprises during your presentation!

We will reach out to you several weeks in advance to schedule your rehearsal time. You will have the opportunity to see your room, run through your presentation, and make sure all components of your session are ready to ‘WOW’ your audience!

A. Breakout presenters will be introduced by your Session Host from the conference team. You will have the opportunity to connect with your Session Host at rehearsal to review your introduction. Our goal is to have engaging and interesting introductions that set an energetic tone!

A. No. Another technical person in the room may interfere with the attendee experience. We will not stop anyone from using their phone/device to create videos onsite. We do ask that everyone be aware and not obstruct the view of anyone in the room.

A. The EOS Conference team will not be distributing presentations or materials for individual sessions. If you would like to share your presentation, please provide a copy to be uploaded into the app by February 3. We suggest creating a simplified PDF of your slide deck with the most relevant information for sharing, versus sharing all slides.

A. Yes. Attendee surveys will be offered (electronically) for every breakout and keynote. Please remind attendees of this at the end of your presentation. You can expect to receive your feedback within 10 days.  Our goal as a team is a feedback rating of 8.75 or higher, and we’re counting on all our speakers to help achieve this.

Attendees score in the areas of Content value, Speaker Delivery and Overall Session Satisfaction. When the final Feedback Survey is ready for 2025, we will share the questions with you.

As you plan out your conference agenda, this is a great time to take the Organizational Check-Up. What key components are weaker than others? Even if you’ve been running on EOS for more than 3 years, we all need to get back to the basics sometimes. If you find scores at 3 or lower on some key components, we recommend looking at the Foundational (0-1.5 years) track sessions related to that issue.

AFTER THE CONFERENCE

Enjoy the 2024 EOS Conference all over again whenever you’d like! The 2024 EOS Conference On-Demand package comes with your ticket and features every conference session, from the first sessions of the pre-conference to our closing keynote speaker.  Nothing you need to do right now; we’ll email you when it’s ready.

Access is available from April 22 – July 22.

ALL THE LITTLE THINGS

The EOS Conference is the best place to meet other companies Running on EOS! You’ll have plenty of opportunities throughout the conference to connect with others during meals, between sessions, and, of course, in our designated networking break areas – plan to schedule as many of these opportunities as possible into your agenda.

Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

Wednesday

New this year, we will be hosting a Wednesday evening welcome event to kick off the Conference at the Seaview Restaurant.

Thursday-Friday

During each of the breakout sessions, there will be a “Connection” track where you can connect with others in a similar role as you. These sessions will allow you to learn from your fellow Visionaries, Integrators, Sales and Marketing, Operations, or Finance leaders.

Traction Tables are back! During Breakout Session 3 and at breakfast on Friday morning, we’ll have dedicated topic-based tables for you to connect with other conference attendees over breakfast.

Thursday-Night Reception

Join us at the reception in the Gaslamp District for food, games, and lots of opportunities to connect with others.

On Thursday night, we’ll walk over to the Gaslamp District for our conference reception, sponsored by Trainual. This will be a block party in one of San Diego’s most famous districts with food, games, and lots of opportunities to connect with others. We will have a van driving back and forth if you need support getting to and from the reception.

P.S. Put on something that shows us how you live your EOS Life. Maybe it’s a souvenir shirt from your most recent family vacation, your own company’s gear, or a jersey from your favorite sports team.

Need to back out? Cancellations received after March 1, 2024, will be refunded minus a $250 registration fee per registrant. Purchased seats are transferable, and substitute attendees for all seats can be submitted until March 15, 2024. No transfers, substitutions, or cancellations will be permitted after March 15, 2024.

On-site dining: Your registration to the conference includes breakfast, lunch, heavy appetizers, and small bites at the reception on Thursday, plus breakfast on Friday. Still hungry? Want a nightcap? We won’t judge you, but we may join you!

Find info for on-site options on the Manchester Grand Hyatt and Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina websites.

Room Service: If you’d rather nosh in your jammies alone, both hotels also offer room service.

We encourage you to share the love on social with your own photos from the event. Shout it from the rooftops that you’re attending the coolest conference of the year! Don’t forget to tag us on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram, and use the hashtag #EOSConference2024
